New Loves: Suspenders

Hey all!
Oh man, is it hot where you're at too? It seems like, at least here in Oregon, it went from being in the 60's straight to being in the 90's! No fair! ;) I kind of love the hot days of summer though. Getting up early, watering my garden, opening up the house to keep it cool... I think there must be some nostalgia that goes along with all that for me. Plus, I spent all day on the river yesterday with friends! Yay!

SO. This weeks New Love is suspenders. I'm not completely sure if I love the reality of them, BUT I saw this picture and I love it.

Cute, right? I also found this one that I like, but I feel like this is a hard look to pull off.

What do you guys think? Are you into it? I think it would help to have a long torso (of which I don't have) and I think it would help to not be 5'2". ;) Haha. But I thought it was cute and wanted to share it with you guys!

I hope you're staying cool!

Turquoise Tuesday: Noops Edition

Hi all!
Well as anyone who follows my Twitter knows, I spent the weekend at the coast with my fam. :) We had a GREAT time just sunning ourselves on the deck, walking on the beach and hanging out at the trendy Nye Beach area in Newport, Oregon. There was SO MUCH turquoise there, I had to grab my camera and snap some photos!

I absolutely love turquoise houses. Especially with the shingle siding. It's so cute! So here is my little photo-journal of what I found in the Noops...

I hope you guys enjoyed todays Turquoise Tuesday! Have a wonderful day!!

Weekend Adventure DIY

Hey all!
Well I'm running out the door to head to the coast with the fam. In lieu of a bona-fide adventure post I'll leave you with this "DIY" inspired by my crazy bike adventure yesterday.

The Adventure:
I woke up SO EARLY and I could just hear my bike calling to me from the garage. I threw on the bibs and it was on. I did the usual 25 mile loop and was feeling AWESOME so I decided to investigate some side roads I’d always wondered about. Beautiful, wooded scenery, saw 4 deer, had one flat (no biggie-hello CO2), and saw the sunrise… A FEW HOURS LATER. SO LOST. And might I add hungry. All I had was one Gu and a packet of fruit snacks for breakfast. (In my defense, I didn’t know I was going on an expedition and ALSO I’m not grown up & have no life skills.) So I asked a farmer where I was. The best part of my day is the expression on his face. Anyhoo, I got back home safe and sound and my bike computer reports a whopping 47.4 miles.

The DIY:

YOU TOO CAN HAVE THIS ROCKIN HAIR STYLE!

Step 1. Don’t dry your hair before putting on your bike helmet.

Step 2. Get lost and ride around till it’s dry.

Step 3. Remove helmet. Contemplate combing.

Step 4. Shrug shoulders, accept that people will assume you are homeless today.

I hope you all have a GREAT weekend!

New Loves: Sleeping in Style

Hey loveys!
Sorry about the lack of turquoise this week! It's been a bit hectic and I'll be REALLY HAPPY when this week is over! I'm looking so forward to some family time at the coast this weekend. My grand plan is to lounge on the deck in the sunshine with an awesome book and play some guitar with dad. :)

SO. Down to business. I always always always love the idea of having cute PJ's but always just end up with an old tshirt. However, the fun loungewear at Anthropologie has got me really contemplating a cute ensemble!

Iris-In-Progress Loungers from Anthro

Hermosa Set from Anthro

Nadia Tap Short from Anthro

Poppy Seed Set from Anthro

Empire State Set from Anthro

So many cute options! I'm really loving the Iris pants and the Hermosa Set! They look so light and summery! Which ones are your favorites?

Toodleoo loves! I hope you have a great 4th!

Weekend Adventure: Green Springs Inn

Helloooo!
AH! The first installment of Weekend Adventure! I'm way excited to share some fun DIY's, review some awesome trails, dog friendly hotels and great restaurants. So pretty much tell you about my weekends, but hopefully give you some info you can use to make your own adventures. :) OKAY! So...

A few weekends ago, Ryan and I were down in the Ashland area for a bike race. (WHAT!?! A bike race? Who me? Haha...) We wanted to make a weekend out of it and found a cool Inn in this book I have, The Dog Lover's Companion to the Pacific Northwest. The Green Springs Inn to be exact!

We stayed in one of the lodge rooms. It was so cute and comfy! The real treat (other than the fact that the whole Inn is pet friendly!) was the big jacuzzi tub on the back porch! It's an open porch with great views of the wooded property, or if you want to soak in privacy, you can roll down the bamboo privacy screen!

Besides the main lodge, there are several log cabins to choose from. Each with a unique layout and set deep onto the property. The prices are so affordable that we're thinking about getting one for a group next time we have a race down there. Not to mention that the owner, Diarmuid McGuire, is one of the nicest people ever. Oh, and if you do go, you have to try their fresh baked poppyseed molasses bread. Totally yummy.

You can check out more info, or reserve a room online at their website http://www.greenspringsinn.com/

Well there you have it! Next, I'm looking forward to an awesome weekend in Bend starting tomorrow! Mountain biking on Saturday and Ryan's bike race on Sunday, it's bound to be a great couple of days! What are you guys up to? I'd love to know! Also if you have any places you want me to check out just send me an email at urbanfarmdesigns[at]gmail[dot]com.

New Loves: The Messy Bun

Hey guys!
I love the messy bun that I've been seeing lately! I'm not really big on combing my hair so the messy styles are a shoo-in to be my faves. ;)

This is a great tutorial on how to achieve that look!

So messy yet refined. :) Although my sister likes to call me Marilla from Anne of Green Gables when i don the bun... haha.
